Breeding from two parents
When you breed from two parents, it is important to distinguish between the first and second parents, since the blending options might give different weights to the first and second parents. See Changing breeding optionsKOXL7>main for details on blending.
To breed from two parents in the main window,
▪ Select two plants. The first parent will be the focused plant8IN1RV>second, and the second parent will be the first selected plant in the list that is not the focused plant.
▪ Choose Breed from the main window Plant menu. The two plants you selected will appear in the breeder in a generation1VHOC04 by themselves, and the new generation will follow them. The new generations will follow any existing generations in the breeder. The two parents will be marked "p1" and "p2".
To breed from two parents in the breeder,
▪ Select the first parent, then Shift-click to select the second parent. The two parents must be in the same generation. If you want to breed from parents in two different generations, drag one parent into the other parent's generation (replacing a plant you don't care about). See Replacing breeder plantsReplacing_breeder_plants>second for more on this.
▪ Choose Breed from the breeder Breed menu. All breeder generations below the selected one will clear out, and the new generation will appear under the two parents. The two parents will be marked "p1" and "p2".
You cannot breed from two parents in the time series window. You can never breed from more than two parents.
