The 3D object mover is a tool for managing 3D objects within libraries. It has two sides: the left side and the right side. For each side of the 3D object mover, the top of the window shows the name of the library open on that side. The pencil next to the library name shows whether you have made any changes to the library. Under each library name is a list of all the 3D objects in that library. Between the two library names is a preview of the focused (first chosen) 3D object on either side. You can only select 3D objects in one library at a time. The buttons going down the middle of the 3D object mover operate on whichever 3D objects are selected, on either side.

To copy plants from one plant file to another using the plant mover,

Choose Move > 3D Object Mover from the File menu on the main window.

The current 3D object library will be opened on the left side of the 3D object mover. If you didn't want to work with the current library in the 3D object mover, click Close. Then open any one or two 3D object libraries you want to work with. If you want to make a new file to copy 3D objects to, click New.

Select the 3D object(s) you want to copy in one of the lists. To select more than one 3D object, shift-click (to add contiguous items in the list) or Control-click (to add isolated items).

Click Transfer. Copies of the 3D objects you selected will appear in the other list.

       Click Quit

If you have made changes to either file, PlantStudio will ask if you want to save the changes.  Click Yes to save the changes you made to the file, or click No to close the file without saving your changes, or click Cancel to go back to using the 3D object mover without saving the file.

Tips on using the 3D object mover

You can select multiple 3D objects in the plant mover, but you can only rename or edit one at a time. If more than one 3D object is selected, only the focused (first chosen) 3D object will be renamed.

If you make a mistake while using the 3D object mover, you can go back to the original state of any file before you made changes to it. To abandon the changes you made to a file in the 3D object mover, click Close on the side of the 3D object mover with the problem file, and click No when asked if you want to save changes. Then click Open on the same side and open the file again.
