Reorienting 3D plant models during export
Different 3D programs use different coordinate systems, so you may need to do some reorienting of PlantStudio models in your favorite 3D program. If you find your plants coming out upside down or too big or small in your 3D program, you can set special rotations during export to save you some import steps.
Tips on rotation
To fix upside down plants, set the rotation to 180 degrees. To fix sideways plants, set the rotation to 90 degrees. You probably won’t need any other rotations than these.
Tips on scaling
In most 3D programs and most 3D export formats the scale won’t matter; your 3D program will convert the plant model to its scale during import. However, there may be cases where scale matters a lot. In VRML format, for example, we found that Bryce read plants as huge, so an export scaling factor of 10% is necessary. If you don’t have any problem with scale, leave this factor at 100%.
